Baltaire

Details:

The glitz! The snottiness. There’s a time and a place for fanciness, and Baltaire delivers on that special night out. Date night just got kicked up a knotch with this place, because you walk in and you feel slightly cooler (not temperature wise, but in an I’m rad type of way). The food? Sexy? The old-school service, the old-school menu, and the new-school people? Sexy.

Holy pasta! This is a fun Thursday night date-night. Not fancy, not casual, but trendy and popping! Like literally popping. Make a reservation, and you’ll still wait. But, the wait is worth it. Spicy pasta, special pizza, meatballs galore, and a true celebration of food.

Great for a fun date to spice things up, a great great anniversary date option for a comfortable setting with bitchin food and non-bitchy people.

If you looking to be apart of the LA scene and feel like a celebrity or even to see a celebrity, Catch is your place. This restaurant will impress your special someone. From the moment you step, through the elevator, you feel bad and boujee.

The seafood menu is a bit pricey, but delicious. You are definitely paying for the ambiance. Don’t forget to tell them if it’s your anniversary, as you will get a “Hit Me” dessert that is one of the most fun desserts out there.

In honor of #NationalPizzaDay & the upcoming #GovernorsBall, we’re sharing @chefwolfgangpuck’s famous “Pizza With Smoked Salmon and Caviar” recipe 🍕 ———— Ingredients (24 ounces) pizza dough Flour, for dusting 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil 1 medium red onion, julienned 1/4 bunch fresh dill, minced, 1 cup sour cream or crème fraîche Freshly ground pepper, to taste 16 ounces smoked salmon, sliced paper-thin 4 heaping tablespoons domestic golden caviar or salmon caviar 4 heaping teaspoons black osetra caviar . . . Directions Step 1 – 30 minutes before you're ready to bake the pizzas, preheat the oven to 500ºF with a pizza stone inside. . . . Step 2 – Prepare pizza crust: Dip the ball of dough into flour, shake off the excess flour, place the dough on a clean, lightly floured surface, and start to stretch the dough. Press down on the center, spreading the dough into an 8-inch circle, with its outer rim a little thicker than the inner circle. If you find this difficult to do, use a small rolling pin to roll out the dough. . . . Step 3 – After the dough has been rolled or stretched into four 8-inch circles, place the pizzas on a lightly floured wooden peel. Brush the center of each pizza to within 1 inch of the edge with olive oil and sprinkle it with some of red onion. Slide the pizza onto the stone and bake 8 to 12 minutes or until crust is golden brown. . . . Step 4 – Make the dill cream: Mix the dill with the sour cream or crème fraîche and freshly ground pepper to taste. . . . Step 5 – Arrange the pizzas: Transfer the pizzas to heated dinner plates and spread them with the sour cream mixture. Divide the salmon, and arrange decoratively over the cream. . . . Step 6 – Place a spoonful of golden caviar in the center of each pizza, then spoon a little of the black caviar into the center of the golden or salmon caviar. Cut each pizza into fourths and serve immediately.

An LA classic that seems to never go out of style. Like Catch, this is a place to be a part of the LA scene. Spago was created by Legendary chef, Wolfgang Puck. You might even get a chance to spot J Biebs, or Mr. Puck himself (or should we call him Wolfie?)

Enough about the scene, Spago sells designer pizza like the hit off-menu Salmon Pizza or the delicious A5 Japanese Waygu.

If you looking to impress someone, Spago is the place.

Bone marrow. Great, now that we’ve got that out of the way you know why to go. Osteria Mozza may be right next door and big brother restaurant, but this is the sexy date night destination we recco. A small, exclusive setting, bone-marrow pie, epic chicken (and when is chicken ever epic?), and knowledgeable servers. You’ll love it, your date will love it, and you’ll want to come back by next date night.

Don’t ask for a straw! My girl asked for a straw and they looked at her as if she had horns. Aside from that pre-meal fiasco, this place checks all the date night checkmarks. Delicious food you can share (romantic!), check. Interesting people, check. Abbot Kinney walks after dinner, check. Basically, a perfect Friday night date night for you and the plus 1. But don’t forget, no straws.

Nobu Malibu

Malibu

MAKE A RESERVATION

Details:

There’s plenty of fish in the sea, but only one Nobu. Your date will love you for this. Book it in advance, and make sure you’re there for sunset. That keeps it worth it. Without the view, is Nobu better than Katsuya or Sugarfish? Of course not. But add in beautiful Malibu, a sighting of Kim K, and some sake, and Nobu is arguably #1 on this list.

WP24

Downtown Los Angeles

MAKE A RESERVATION

Details:

Duck duck goose! The duck is ducking INCREDIBLE. Legitimate the sickest view of the downtown skyline, and a perfect place for a Sunday night with that special date. The crowd is perhaps a little lethargic, but the food is next level. Like seriously next level. Every bite is Wolfgang Puck approved, and you’ll leave feeling ready for bedtime. Perfect for date night, right?

N/Naka

The most impossible, but actually worth trying place to get a reservation is N/Naka. Reservations are released Sunday at 10am for 3 months in advance so definitely plan this date out.

If you want to see food art, exceptional service, and a 13 course meal prepared with such attention to detail.

This is a one of a kind dinner experience that will blow your date out of the water.

Places To Eat In Playa Vista

Places To Eat In Playa Vista

Playa Vista, CA is an upcoming place when it comes to restaurants. Not to mention, companies like Youtube, Google, Yahoo, Oglivy, The Honest Company and ChowNow have offices in Playa Vista. In my opinion, this small place has the potential to be a serious goldmine for new restaurants. The founder of a Lemonade got the memo and they are opening a reimagined wood-fired steakhouse called Bull and Buttery in the fall. Homestate, an already established hit LA restaurant, opened a restaurant in Playa Vista on May 18th. Are you seeing a trend?

SOL Mexican Cocina

Cuisine: Upscale Mexican

Price: $30 and Under

Dress Code: Smart Casual

Make a Reservation

Details:

The always full and popping Newport Beach upscale Mexican restaurant made its way to Playa Vista and instantly upped Playa Vista’s restaurant game. The restaurant is inspired by the best of coastal Baja California.

My favorite item is one the appetizer section or should I say Antojitos section on the menu is the Chorizo & Mushroom Con Queso. Followed closely by the Pork Carnitas, which are huge and delicious.

The tacos were actually a disappointment. I got four different tacos and they were all nothing special except the “Canarditas” Duck taco. Luckily Homestate came to Playa Vista so you don’t need to eat tacos at Sol.

The service is really slow and it can get really loud in the restaurant.

My recommendation is to make a reservation before you go. Overall Sol is a solid restaurant even though it’s not without flaws (slow/ tacos). I definitely wouldn’t put it in my top five Mexican restaurants in LA, but it does the trick.

Hash

Cuisine: Breakfast and Brunch

Price: $30 and Under

Dress Code: Casual

Order Online

Details:

Playa Vista truly lacks breakfast and brunch places, but if you are looking for some traditional breakfast food head on over to Hash.

They have some great breakfast choices for any type of palette and diet you are on like the El Gordo Burrito, Big Papa’s Sandwich, Carrot Cake Belgium, Egg Scramble, and The Killer Quesadilla.

If you like pancakes, this not the place to get unless you love your pancakes extra salty (and no I don’t mean mad). Also, this place shouldn’t be called Hash because their “Hash” is not what I would go there for.

Overall for not many having breakfast/brunch places in Playa Vista, Hash will hit the spot for your breakfast fix if you don’t want to venture out of the neighborhood.

Tocaya Organica

Cuisine: Healthy Mexican

Price: $30 and Under

Dress Code: Casual

Order Online

Details:

MEXICAN FOOD? HEALTHY? Yes, I said it. Tocaya brings healthy food and Mexican food together. Whether you are looking for your next taco tuesday fix or a healthy bowl or salad, Tocaya is your place.

Beware: If you can’t handle any heat, stay out of the kitchen – I mean Tocaya. It’s not incredibly hot, but it has a kick to it. Hot and spicy!

Hopdoddy

Cuisine: American, Burgers

Price: $30 and Under

Dress Code: Casual

Order Online

Details:

Best burger in LA? NO. Best Burger in Playa Vista? It has a fighting chance. In need of a burger fix in Playa Vista with all natural ingredients – this is your place to go.

The burgers don’t match the hype. They were good enough to fulfil a burger craving. The fries I would go back for. I repeat, the fries are GOOD.

Overall, if there is line don’t wait if there isn’t you can get your burger and fries fix here and be happy.

Panini Kabob Grille

Cuisine: Mediterranean, Persian

Price: $30 and Under

Dress Code: Casual

Order Online

Details:

Holy portion! This mediterranean eatery delivers on the categories we are all about: taste, uniqueness, and bang for your order. The pita is a winner, and the hummus, chicken, and rice are all routine but comforting.

Overall, the perfect take out or casual dine-in dinner. Will it blow your socks off? Maybe not, but it’ll hit the spot.

ROC Playa Vista

Cuisine: Chinese

Price: $30 and Under

Dress Code: Casual

Order Online

Details:

Looking for Soup Dumplings aka Xiao Long Bao and don’t want to hit up Din Thai Fung. Head over to ROC and you won’t be disappointed. You might of already heard of ROC or been to ROC if you have been to the Sawtelle area. That is the OG location, but you wouldn’t know it based off of these legit dumplings.

Urban Plates

Cuisine: American, Salad

Price: $30 and Under

Dress Code: Casual

Order Online

Details:

I used to be a Urban Plates fanatic, but as the years went by the prices started getting high. If you are in need of healthy food, it is a good option. The only problem is Whole Foods is a walk away and their salad bar is one of my favs.

I do recommend you try Urban Plates because there are mixed reviews on it. Some LOVE IT and some don’t.

Let me know what you get and if you like it. Will I ever go back there? YES. Is it my top choice in Playa Vista? NO.

Homestate

Cuisine: Tex-Mex, Brunch and Breakfast

Price: $30 and Under

Dress Code: Casual

Order Online

Details:

Now you don’t have to hop on a plane to get your Tex-Mex breakfast taco fix. Homestate brings a variety of breakfast tacos to you. People line up for this place and everyone knows where there is a line is where the party is at and also where the queso is at. Basically, there’s queso. Need I say more?

Must try tacos are the Pecos taco (Brisket and scrambled eggs) or Trinity Taco (Organic Eggs, Potatoes, Bacon and Cheddar. Though, you can’t go wrong with any taco here.

DON’T SKIP THE QUESO. It is a must and if you have room try the Migas as well.

EEEEEATSCON Los Angeles By Infatuation 2019 Recap

EEEEEATSCON Los Angeles By Infatuation 2019 Recap

Y’all enjoy comicon, but this is the type of convention that us foodies are down for. A casual Saturday stuff-fest, and this curation of LA’s best restaurants was truly worth buying a ticket for (only $15 + the cost of all the food you’ll want). Hint, it was a lot of food you’ll want. Anyways, the event was well thought out, well setup, and well branded. We were handed a map upon entrance, and we’re smart so we made a bee-line to Shake Shack. Lines grew as the day progressed, and so did our bellies. But, truly recommend this event for the foodie, the want to be foodie, and the Angelino who wants to discover the city. Three cheers for EEEEEATScon, and a special high-five to the day’s winner, Shake Shack x Petit Trois.

Ranking My Favorite Restaurants I Tried:

  1. Shake Shack + Petit Trois

Shack Shack burgers are already stacked up as one of the best burgers in Los Angeles. Nobody should be surprised that when you pair Shake Shack up with one of LA’s top restaurants, Petit Trois, the pairing will equal a masterpiece.

Rank: 9.8/10 (Needed some Cheese Fries)

Address: EEEEEATSCON Exclusive

  1. Tacos Y Birria La Unica

My first time trying these tacos and honestly they blew me away. The quesatacos were the perfected combo of melted cheese, meat and of course the delicious tortilla. It may have taken the #1 position from my other favorite taco in Los Angeles- fighting it out with the Chicken (Aka cheesy chicken) tacos from Loqui.

tacos y birria la unica tacos

Rank: 9.4 – wanted some guac

Address:

  1. Triple Beam Pizza

If this was delivered to my house I would have a hard time not having a whole X-Large pizza to myself. I am a little biased because I love thinner crust, but also the cheese and herbs were the ideal recipe for an ideal tasting, authentic pizza

Triple Beam Pizza

Rank: 9.1 – Slice was too small

Address:

  1. Everson Royce Bar

If you are into melt in your mouth, buttery, flaky biscuits and honey butter on the side, Everson Royce Bar is your place to go. I am eager to try the rest of the menu because these biscuits were a tease for me. I left wanting more so well done to Everson Royce Bar, and  you will see in your restaurante soon.

Everson Royce Bar Biscuits

Rank – 8.9 (Didn’t have knives to butter my biscuit)

Address:

  1. The Beefsteaks

All the way from across the pond, The Beefsteaks shared with us their signature steak frites. The fries were nicely cooked, the chimichurri sauce was the perfect amount, the meat was juicy. Only negative was that, the meat was slightly undercooked for me. If it was more cooked, this could have jumped up a spot in my ranking. #bloody

Rank: 8.5 (I think I got the less cooked meat)

Address:

  1. Milk Bar

Milk Bar is one of my favorite dessert places in LA, BUT I didn’t think they put their best foot forward to knock it out of the park for this event. They gave me frozen bday truffles that I had to wait to eat, they only had one cookie choice (compost cookie – Corn Cookie and Confetti Cookie are my favs), and no ice cream or CAKE. My favorite thing at milk bar is BIRTHDAY CAKE. If cake is your best showing (which it is) then why leave it at home?

Address:

Rank: 7.9 (GIVE ME SOME CAKE)

  1. Trejos Donuts

Trejos Donuts on the astethic front, knocked this out of the park. But, hate to be a hater but these were dry? Not dry as can be, but not as moist (sorry for my word choice) as we need a Pinata donut to be. Pinata = party, and these look like a party and taste like a work function. Still cute, though

Pinata Trejos Donut

Rank: 5.5 (Need milk, water, and all beverages because sorry #dry).
